ABSTRACT
Rethinking Collection Management – The MuseumPlusRIA with a Registrar’s Eye
In late 2017 the Ludwig Museum, Budapest, stepped into the final stages of creating its new cloud based Collection Management System. The aim was to develop an online platform which would facilitate the demands of a fast paced contemporary art museum, with a varied collection, including an ever growing number of digital media artworks.
Could such a system integrate into the workflow of the collection care team, and importantly, aid the work of the museum Registrar? Working in liaison with the development team, a Registrar module was added, which enables the effective management of all incoming and outgoing loans, including transport, contracts and insurance details.
The session will discuss the difficulties, successes and insights into the project, from a registrar’s perspective.
